California, Beijing, and Lots of Singing
February 08, 2008 05:55 PM PST
I've been off the air for over a year - wow! But I'm back. This episode contains recordings I made at a Native American Church meeting and Chinese people singing in a strange hotel/sanitarium in the suburbs of Beijing. Pretty random ... July 13, 2006 10:55 PM PDT
This episode is a live recording of a great show I saw in Mongolia. May 26, 2006 02:18 AM PDT
This is the one with the movie pitch and other cool interviews... April 16, 2006 05:17 PM PDT
This is one of my best podcasts ever. I had a BBQ party at my house on Sunday and recorded lots of singing, guitar playing, and everyone talked into the mic (must've been the beer). In this podcast, you'll hear Mandarin, Cantonese, English, Hindi, Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese, Mongolian, Shanghainese, Malay (or is it Malaysian), and one other Chinese dialect that I don't know the name of. Enjoy! April 13, 2006 05:00 PM PDT
http://media.libsyn.com/media/english/dave_starbucks.MP3 PLEASE CLICK ON THE ABOVE LINK TO HEAR THIS EPISODE. This episode is an audio blog of a loooong conversation I had with my friend Dave. He lives in Korea, but he was here last weekend visiting ME! We went to Starbucks and spoke for a long time over a lot of coffee. We have two great ideas during this caffeine fueled talkfest. One is to make a podcast of Starbucks conversations and use it to teach people English. The other is to make a reality podcast called the Beijing Dating Challenge (or something similar … the idea is a podcast where one person chooses a new boyfriend/girlfriend by going on dates in Starbucks and gradually eliminating date contestants. The people listening to the podcast could vote and determine who moves on to new rounds). April 03, 2006 10:29 AM PDT
This is a totally different kind of episode. This whole episode was recorded with a friend of mine in a real radio studio. I want to become the Howard Stern of China. This is the demo tape. March 29, 2006 03:36 PM PST
In this episode, I play clips fro around town, including my friend Jonathan interviewing his mom in Mongolian, an early morning search for a store that sold sake, and getting stuck in traffic in a taxi. February 18, 2006 07:33 AM PST
This is an all-fireworks episode! It's a very quick episode ... just street recordings of last Sunday's holiday and insane fireworks. It was like a warzone in Beijing, so I decided to record it. February 18, 2006 07:19 AM PST
In this episode, I interview one of my co-workers and play some cool music by John Morley. February 10, 2006 10:46 PM PST
This show is a little nutty. It's all recordings from a slightly drunken night in Sanlitun, the hip bar/club area in Beijing. January 14, 2006 09:44 AM PST
This is an all English, all live podcast. It was recorded on January 14, 2006, at a Mongolian bar in Beijing. There's live Mongolian music in the background, while I interview my friend Jonathan about life, politics, and the three themes of Mongolian songs (hometown, mother, horse)..... This episode is a little mellower....there's some cool music by John Morley and some conversations I had with Chinese people. December 18, 2005 09:58 AM PST
In this podcast, I interview lots of people. I even interview my grandparents! December 18, 2005 07:04 AM PST
